Paintings
My paintings explore the fragility of life through the lens of flowers and nature, using them as metaphors for the complexity of existence.
My mother was a passionate gardener, she filled every inch of her garden in Auckland New Zealand with colour and texture. She grew up in Samoa, a tropical island in the South Pacific that informed her bold colour choices. She created a dynamic textural garden that I found inspiring and informed my earlier work as a young art student. It instilled in me a deep connection to the natural world, and since her passing, I’ve found solace in nature as a means of healing and processing trauma.
I seek to focus on colour in nature, in a fully immersive experience through vivid, interwoven compositions and I hope to deepen my connection to both my past and my healing process, while offering a visual language for universal human experiences.
